My relaxing days in Las Terrenas

Travelling with other people has it pros and cons. If you are travelling with more people, whether with family members or friends, the chances of every person having different interests and ideas of what they want to do on their vacation are quite high. Once a year me and my family always go on vacation together. Last year our vacation was in Dominican Republic. I wanted my family to see the beauty of this country, so they could understand why I love it so much and why I wanted to move to a whole different continent.

We spent a few days in Bayahibe and most of the vacation in Las Terrenas, Samaná. I had previously not explored Las Terrenas, that is why I took my research seriously (as I always do, dooh) and made a list of everything I wanted to see during our time there. It did not go as planned. We spent 5 days in Las Terrenas. One full day we spent on an unforgettable whale watching trip in Samaná and visiting Bacardi Island. We spent another day at Playa Bonita, one of the most beautiful beaches in Las Terrenas. What did we do the rest of our time in Las Terrenas? Well… we spent 3 days at ETNO BEACH CLUB. It was unexpected but awesome.

Even though it was not what I had originally planned, and I did not get to see all the places and beaches that I wanted to, we had a nice and relaxing time in Las Terrenas where recharging our batteries and spending quality time with my family was the priority. ETNO beach club turned out to be the perfect place for that. When it comes to our family, each family member has a different idea of what they want to do on vacation.

My mom usually wants to take her time in the morning and leave the accommodation somewhere around noon as she does not like to feel rushed. She likes to go on beach walks and search for shells. She always comes back from her beach walk with her hand full of shells or unique rocks. My dad wants to avoid the heat and the sun, which is quite difficult in the Caribbean I must admit. He does not last long in the sun, nor does a sunbed in the shade do the trick. He wants to sit down at a bar where he likes to “work “on his laptop while sipping a shake or eating a big portion of ice cream. My sister is like my mom, she likes to go on walks, go for long swims and read her book.

Since we are a family of 4, we had to find a way to spend our day where everybody would be happy. We have already learned that the optimal solution for us is to find a beach bar/club on the beach, where everybody can do their own thing while still spending time together. In Las Terrenas the answer was: ETNO beach club.

ETNO Beach Club in located on the beach “Playa Las Terrenas”. The apartment we rented was a 5 min walk from the club. Since I have been to Las Terrenas once before, this was the first place I thought of when thinking about where to spend the day with the family. As soon as we got to the beach club it was already clear that this would be our go-to place in Las Terrenas on the days that we did not have any activities scheduled.

The beach club is a spacious and aesthetically pleasing place that one can visit for different purposes. At most beach clubs, you usually need to pay an entrance fee or there is a minimum for consumption, not at this one. As long you order and are a guest of the club, you can enjoy the sunbeds, showers, and bathrooms without having to pay anything extra. Of course, be mindful of the club, do not sit there the whole day using their facilities after ordering 1 coffee. They run a business, not a charity. They will not say anything to you but make sure to order more if you are staying longer.

You can spend your time at the beach club sipping cocktails, eating their delicious food, or tanning on their sunbeds and cooling off in the ocean. If you are working during your vacation or are simply a local that is looking for a place to work remotely, this is also the perfect spot for that. They have sockets for charging your devices, the beach club is big, so you do not need to worry about finding a free table or for it to be too crowded to get some work done. You will have the best view while working and will probably be more inspired and motivated to do your work while having a taste of one of their delicious shakes.

I spent my days there with my notebook, peacefully writing down my thoughts and ideas while enjoying my cappuccino(s). My dad would spend most of the time reading his book or working on other things on his laptop, while taking breaks and going for a swim, drying off on the sunbed and getting that daily dose of vitamin D.

My mom would drink her coffee and then disappear and come back with a hand full of shells as per usual. My sister was happy going for hew swims and walks while also taking here time to read her book. All of us where happy as everybody was doing exactly what they liked and getting the most out of this vacation.

When it starts getting darker and the sun goes down the sky turns into beautiful colors and highlights the palm trees. Honestly this happens on all beaches in Dominican Republic if it’s a sunny day, not just Las Terrenas. The view is truly breathtaking (see picture below). I do still need to visit the beach club at nighttime. I have not been yet, but I have been told that the club gets a different vibe and energy. Next time I will dress up (and by dress up I mean put on something else than beach clothes) and enjoy the DJ’s playlist and maybe work on my dance moves.

During those few days that we spent in Las Terrenas ETNO Beach Club has become our regular spot. I am a big fan of routine when it comes to restaurants, bars, and cafes. Once I find a place that I like, I always go to the same place and do not try out new things. Why would I, if I already know I will have the best time?

ETNO Beach Club, see you next time when I am in Las Terrenas! I’ll probably do the exact same thing, and I know I’ll love it.

Your thoughts and energy are creating your reality

I’m sure it has happened to all of us. We say something or think about something and then next thing you know, it happens in real life. It might be something good, or bad. We tend to take it as pure coincidence, luck or bad juju. I believe believe it’s more than that, I believe we can explain it with the law of attraction.

Everything in life happens for a reason

A palm tree kept throwing shade on to my sunbed and after moving the sunbed three times I simply gave up and took that as a sign that I should go for a walk on the beach. Next thing I know, I see two huge humpback whales jumping out of the water incredibly close to shore!!!! That palm tree made sure I didn’t miss whales saying hello! Everything in life happens for a reason.

Sunset colors over the ocean

Have you ever cried because the view was so beautiful?

After a long day I go for a walk on the beach in the evening. I’m looking at the ocean as the waves are gently crashing against the sand. I look at the sky above the water, the colors and how the flow between each other. Suddenly my eyes start watering up and tears come running down my face. It’s not tears of sadness. It’s good tears, tears of inner peace, happiness. My body fills up with energy and releases it back into the ocean.
